Thiswasntme submitted: Taken by a friend of mine (c)Marlon Taz Dacumos during a race, this is my 1987 Toyota MR2. Being something that’s been in our family for 19 years, it’s been driven daily to high school and college by two of my brothers and has now been with me for four years.
It’s been handed down to me at around 133000+ miles on its 3rd engine swap, but in the time that I’ve owned it, it has never failed me. Even though it’s boosted with a t3/t4, tuned with a first gen Link ECU, running on modified AE101 coilovers, along with many other modifications, the age and usage has taken its toll through rust and trim that’s been falling apart over time.
It can probably never go back to the way it used to be (especially the T-Bar seals, god.), it’s one of the most amazing cars to drive and learn on; even though it’s a bit of a pain to work through its small following (in the Philippines) and the scarcity in parts.
Kudos to you for keeping this car going as long as you have, and since it is kind of falling apart, you should just run it as hard as you can until the end. Gotta love little mid-engine cars though. I’m sure it’s a blast on and off the track. Thanks for submitting it and good luck keeping it going!

Maplesass: We’ve been looking for over a year now for the right upgrade from a 2007 Subaru WRX wagon.  We’ve test driven;
2011 Infiniti G37x
2008-2013 BMW 328i and 328i X-drive, 2011 335d
2011 Audi A4 (Premium Plus)
2010- 2011 Mercedes E 350 sedan
2013 Lexus ES 350
2009, 2012, 2013 Subaru WRX wagon
2013 Ford Fusion
2013 VW Touareg
We really want the AWD which is why we test drove the Touareg. Just because we were curious.
The ‘11-‘12 manual BMW 328i is what we can’t get out of our heads. It’s a driver’s car! If it was a 2013 we’d probably go automatic but would wait to buy one until the 2014 came out.
The question is about the suspension on the ‘11-‘12. We don’t like the sport suspension because when you’re doing your daily commute, going over soft bumps or hitting pot-holes causes a judder-like feeling. Having said that we don’t feel it on all of the cars we’ve driven. Why doesn’t it feel the same between two models of the same year?
The salesman assured us it was the run-flats they had all been equipped with, and I can see how that would affect the suspension. But again, why not consistently between two models of the same year?
Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated!

The only ones I would consider upgrades are the Mercedes E350 and the newer WRX wagon. It matters what you want out of your new car, but to me, the WRX is the only true driver’s car out of that bunch, but you probably won’t hate driving an E350 as a daily.
From your list of cars above, I would venture to say you’re not really looking for a driver’s car, more of a premium sedan. If that’s the case, definitely Mercedes.
Also, why is there an image of an MR2 attached? Is it yours?
