Building an Empire
Today I’ll be doing a special on something I came across recently. A guy located right under my nose who restores BMWs of the recent past. He takes his final build photos in Edgewater, NJ, where I used to live.
His name is Vlad and apparently he will custom build you a car. His specialties include E28, E30, E34, etc.
This particular build is a 1988 BMW (E24) M6 with 2-previous owners (the last owner had it for 15-years) and it had only 63k miles on the clock but it was in need of a full cosmetic restoration and a few mechanicals.
Anyone who knows older German cars, knows they’re not the easiest to work on and an E24 M6 is no exception. It’s raw, complex, and well, old. Parts on old German cars tend to be located in mysterious places, they’re expensive, and they break fairly easily, so you have to be somewhat of a delicate surgeon to work on these cars. A hack job just won’t do.
This car is about as far from a hack job as one can get.
All-in-all the car got; a full tune-up, new clutch, ECU (which took weeks to track down), new upholstery inside, new glass, a lower suspension, some BBS wheels, and a flawless paint job. Happy so see it was kept about 95% original.
To contact Vlad send him an email DTMe30M3@yahoo.com. Thanks to Vlad for allowing me to write these posts up. Check back soon for more of his builds!
