Some Inspiration for Mazda6 Owners:
Last but not least from NYIAS, the SpeedSource Mazda6 from 24 Hours of Daytona, which was mentioned briefly on Motoriginal prior to the show. Mazda usually slacks off for the New York Auto Show, and this year was no different, but at least they brought this.
It weighs only 2450-lbs thanks to SpeedSource’s steel tube chassis and carbon fiber body, and having a 380hp/450 lb-ft torque diesel engine makes for an impressive power to weight ratio to pull the car to a top speed of 170mph. Finishing off the package are some lightweight, amazingly designed BBS wheels.
It’s no wonder it’s placing high in the races it has taken part in. The car, along with drivers Jonathan Bomarito and Sylvain Tremblay, placed 4th in its class at 24 Hours of Daytona, and 2nd in its class at Circuit of the Americas. It’s scheduled to race in the Porsche 250 at Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama next week. Hoping to see a first place finish soon.
