Heavenly CTS-V Coupe
While visiting a friend in Jersey this weekend, I stopped to get some cheap gas and saw this Cadillac CTS-V Coupe. After talking with an employee, I found out that the owner of the car also owns a new Camaro and a Plymouth Prowler (both of which I’ve seen before)… but this is my favorite out of the three. If you look closely, you’ll notice a strange tint to the racing stripes. It’s because they’re glow-in-the-dark.
And those little stickers on the front, rear, and sides that look like they read “Hennessey” actually say Heavenly. I asked about it because he has those stickers on the other cars as well, but the guy didn’t know why.
Wonder what upgrades it has underneath?

Cadillac’s New Brand Strategy:
Prior to the show, the first leaked images of the 2014 Cadillac CTS were exciting. A sharp, refined makeover that was sure to turn heads, and that stays true when the car is sitting in front of you. But, while it’s a decent design (especially that massive front grille), the new CTS is a bit of a let down (to me anyway).
Up close, the car is pretty large and aside from the front facia, the rest of the car uncomfortably resembles the previous Mercedes-Benz E-Class, and although Mercedes is a good target to aim for, why not aim where you think Mercedes will be in the future, not where they’ve already been?
The new CTS is also far less sporty looking than the previous model. It retains too little of the original CTS in my mind, the low, sharp, sleek, aggressive yet simple design, or it could be bias because I enjoy the design of the original CTS a lot.
And while a powerful brand image is good, all new Cadillac sedans get lost in themselves…meaning, they all look very similar. Park the CTS next to the ATS and you could have trouble telling them apart.
Not to take away the refinement that GM made on it, because it is a pretty good looking car. It just lacks that sharp originality the previous version had. It’s easy to see what they’re doing here, making cars for the people who can afford them, the old and gray-haired, again.
What do you think of the new CTS and Cadillac’s direction as a whole?
