I can second the BMW and Porsche entries. The N54 twin-turbo setup is overly complex, the ECU is overly sensitive and direct-injection leaves intake valves prone to fouling. Boxster/911 rear main seal and intermediate shaft failures are legendary.

I can vouch for the VAG 1.8T - I have the 180bhp version and there’s always something going wrong with it. The list of ‘they all do that’ faults is shocking. Very good when they work, a pain in the hole at all other times
